Products Description

Frankincense - although its name contains the word "milk", it has nothing to do with milk. It is the resin exuded by the frankincense tree. When the bark is cut open, a milky white liquid will flow out. After drying, it turns into yellowish-brown, semi-transparent lumps, giving off a mixed aroma of pine and lemon. Frankincense trees grow in dry and infertile places - the Arabian Peninsula, East Africa, India - as well as in Oman, Yemen, Somalia and other places.

In ancient times, frankincense was worth more than gold. It was burned in temples, traded in the desert and transported by caravans. The Three Sages of the East once brought it back as a gift. At the beginning of the opening of the Silk Road, Arab merchants transported it to China, where it was called "Tongluo Xiang" - used to unblock meridians, promote blood circulation and relieve pain. Traditional Chinese medicine has never given up on it, praising its effects of promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis, relieving pain and reducing swelling, and promoting muscle regeneration.

The most effective component of frankincense resin is boswellic acid, especially acetyl-11-one-β-boswellic acid (AKBA), which is responsible for its anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. What does it look like? It's a light brown to brownish-yellow fine powder with the characteristic resinous smell of frankincense and a slightly bitter taste.

Raw material preparation - We source high-quality frankincense resin from Oman, Yemen and Somalia. The resin should be light in color, have a low impurity content, and emit a pure and pleasant aroma. Poor-quality resin can lead to low output, which is not worth it.

Low-temperature grinding - The resin is hard and viscous in texture. If ground at room temperature, it will clog the machine. First, freeze it to make it brittle, and then grind it. The resin ground in this way is clean and free of residue.

Low-temperature extraction - We use supercritical carbon dioxide or ethanol as the solvent and keep the temperature below 60°C. Frankincense acid is not heat-resistant. Excessively high temperatures will cause it to decompose. Supercritical carbon dioxide extraction is the purest - with no solvent residue - but the equipment cost is higher. Ethanol is cheaper, but the residue needs to be finely processed to meet the specifications.

Filtration and concentration - The extract is filtered to remove solids and then concentrated into a thick paste. This step can recover most of the solvent, thereby controlling costs.

Column chromatography purification - passing thick pastes through chromatographic columns. In this step, we extract frankinic acid and wash away the resin and gum. The AKBA content is increased in this step.

Drying and grinding - The purified solution is concentrated again and then made into fine powder through spray drying or vacuum drying. It can be used immediately.

Products Functions

1. Anti-inflammatory and relieves joint pain

This is the signature effect of frankincense. The α -ketobutanol -β -D-amine (AKBA) it contains can inhibit 5-lipoxygenase - a key enzyme that promotes inflammation. Inhibiting the activity of this enzyme can slow down the entire inflammatory process.

2. Protect the stomach and intestines and relieve enteritis

Frankincense is also beneficial to the intestines. It can suppress inflammatory signals and help protect the inner walls of the intestines from damage. Studies show that frankincense can relieve the symptoms of patients with ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease - reducing diarrhea and cramps. Its mechanism of action is: soothing the inflamed intestines and enabling them to start self-repairing.

3. Protect the respiratory tract and relieve asthma boswellia extract stomach

Frankincense helps dilate the bronchi and alleviate airway inflammation. It is not a fast-acting emergency inhalation agent, but long-term use can gradually improve the condition. Slow and steady, this is precisely the norm of long-term treatment.

4. Antioxidant and anti-aging

The terpenoids in frankincense can scavenge free radicals, protecting cells from oxidative damage. Fewer free radicals mean slower skin aging and less hardening of blood vessels.

5. Promotes wound healing

Traditional Chinese medicine has long used frankincense to "reduce swelling and promote tissue regeneration." When applied externally, it can promote granulation tissue growth, allowing wounds to heal faster. It also has anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties and can reduce scarring.

6. Protects the liver

Studies have found that frankincense extract has a protective effect on the liver and can reduce liver damage. The specific mechanism is still under investigation, but it is a traditional use.

Products Application

Health Supplements

Frankincense extract has shone brightly in the field of health supplements, especially in terms of joint and intestinal health. Joint formulas - capsules and tablets - emphasize their anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects. They are usually combined with curcumin, chondroitin and MSM to relieve knee pain and hand stiffness. Intestinal health products target more stubborn diseases - ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, irritable bowel syndrome - combining frankincense with probiotics and glutamine to relieve diarrhea and cramps. The respiratory system formula is designed for asthma and chronic bronchitis, combining it with quercetin and NAC to relieve chest tightness and coughing. Anti-aging and oral beauty products take advantage of their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties by blending them with collagen and vitamin C. The liver-protecting formula combines it with milk thistle and schisandra chinensis to help keep the liver healthy.

Cosmetics and Personal Care

Frankincense has rapidly gained popularity in the skincare field, especially in anti-aging and repair products. Anti-aging creams and essences fully utilize their anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and collagen-promoting effects - by adding them to the formula, they can focus on "firming the skin and reducing fine lines". The effect is even better when used in combination with retinol and peptide components. The sensitive skin repair series uses frankincense to soothe redness and reduce inflammation. When used in combination with centella asiatica and ceramide, it can enhance the stability of the skin. Acne treatment products also take advantage of their anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties to reduce swelling and remove acne. Scar repair products - such as those containing silicone oil and onion extract - also add frankincense to help wounds heal and prevent scars from deepening.

Food Industry

Functional beverages add it to plant-based drinks, highlighting its anti-inflammatory and joint health benefits - making you feel beneficial to your body when sipping. Solid beverages are packaged in individual portions for easy carrying and can be brewed and drunk when needed. Functional foods add it to energy bars and protein bars, allowing quick snacks to work unconsciously as well.

Pharmaceuticals

Frankincense is an active pharmaceutical ingredient, often used in drugs for treating arthritis and inflammatory bowel disease. It works in synergy with modern medicine to jointly combat the fundamental issue of inflammation. In traditional Chinese medicine, frankincense has also been used in prescriptions for hundreds of years and is highly regarded for its functions of promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis, relieving pain and reducing swelling, and promoting tissue regeneration. Frankincense is still used in ancient prescriptions, and the same is true for new ones.
